Mr H’s identity will remain a mystery till Wahab confirms it to us, say police

Cops say will guarantee J-Kom staffer’s safety in exchange for aiding in probe

KUALA LUMPUR – “Mr H”, alleged mastermind of the lewd video call scandal, will remain a mystery as long as Community Communications Department (J-Kom) staffer Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani does not provide a statement to police.

Bukit Aman’s criminal investigation department director, Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, said this is because only Wahab is able to confirm Mr H’s identity.

Shuhaily added that police will guarantee Wahab’s safety in exchange for his assistance in the investigation.

“Bukit Aman will contact Wahab and his lawyer to convince them that there is no safety issue. If there is, they will have to detail the threat to Bukit Aman.

“We have not gotten Wahab’s statement, he has not lodged a report and there has been no meeting with police,” he said in a press conference at Bukit Aman here today.

“For now, much of it are rumours. We need the complainant’s statement before the cops are able to confirm Mr H’s identity.

“Wahab had made claims that he was concerned about being found by two individuals at his home. However, police have not received any reports on it so we are unable to investigate the matter.

“This case is still being investigated and four people have given their statements – Agus, political activist Chegubard (Badrul Hisham Shaharin), Mr H and a hotel worker in Bangi. The hotel worker is the individual who could confirm the location of the press conference (by Agus and Wahab).”

Shuhaily added that police are still waiting on the expert analysis of the video call recording.

Last week, a video call recording featuring former J-Kom director-general Datuk Mohammad Agus Yusoff and Wahab was being circulated on social media.

Both Agus and Wahab in a press conference last Friday admitted to having a video call but said the audio in the clip was doctored to make it sound like a lewd conversation.

They also said a Mr H who worked in J-Kom was behind the clip meant to tarnish Agus, and was the one who instructed Wahab to record the call for the purpose of entrapment.

Agus has lodged a police report against Mr H.

Mr H had failed to turn up at the Presint 11 police station in Putrajaya on Wednesday to have his statement recorded as he was ill.

Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said police managed to record the statement of Mr H. – November 24, 2023
