KUALA LUMPUR – The Meteorology Department (MetMalaysia) predicts continuous rain in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Kedah, Perak, and Pulau Pinang from today until Wednesday.

The prediction is based on the weather analytic model, where the monsoon surge is expected to last until November 22.

Meanwhile, a low-pressure system will form in the northern Melaka Strait from November 22 to November 23.

“This condition will increase the potential humidity, leading to continuous rain on the East Coast and north peninsula,” it said today.

The department also predicted thunderstorms, heavy rains, and strong winds in the same period of time for the other states.

Some affected areas with the bad category are Kelantan (Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Tanah Merah, Bachok and Pasir Puteh) and Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu and Marang).

Meanwhile, some areas in the caution category are Sabah in Pantai Barat (Ranau and Kota Belud), Sandakan (Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran, and Sandakan), and Kudat.

In the same category, other areas in Kelantan (Jeli and Kuala Krai), Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu, Dungun, and Kemaman), and Pahang (Kuantan).

From November 22 to 23, the affected areas in the caution category are Kedah (Yan, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu), Pulau Pinang, and Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang dan Selama, and Manjung). – November 20, 2023
