KUALA LUMPUR – DAP should stop being selective in taking legal action and sue Barisan Nasional (BN) as well, as claims about the late communist leader Chin Peng made by PAS MP Siti Mastura Muhammad were taken from a book titled “Bahan Kempen Komunikasi BN”.
Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan (Tasek Gelugor-PN) claimed that Siti Mastura’s allegations were taken from BN’s materials that were available during the 2022 general election.
“This is not an issue simply raised by PN as its (the content) origins are from this (book). I hope DAP is fair and takes legal action against those who print and distribute this book.
“I am also waiting for Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng to take action against BN (and) when… if DAP truly wants to clear its name,” he told a press conference at Parliament, today.
First-time PAS MP Siti Mastura claimed in a speech made on November 4 in Kemaman that certain DAP figures were related to one another, as well as Chin Peng.
“We want to see if DAP is also selective or if they are serious about denying their connection – by way of taking legal action or urging BN to apologise,” said Wan Saiful.
The Bersatu man referred to pages 129 and 130, which included claims that Chin Peng was a cousin of DAP stalwart Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang and former Singapore prime minister, the late Lee Kuan Yew.
Meanwhile, former Seremban Umno Youth chief Zool Amali Hussein confirmed the book was given to all party machinery just before nomination day for the 2022 polls.
Zool Amali, who joined Perikatan Nasional after leaving Umno on December 17 last year, reiterated that the book was printed when Umno was the government.
He also questioned why DAP has not taken action against Umno, despite the latter’s long-time use of the “communist” label against the Pakatan Harapan component.
Siti Mastura landed in hot water after claiming that Guan Eng and his father, Kit Siang, were related to Chin Peng and Kuan Yew, during her speech at a PAS programme in Kemaman on November 4.
Her speech, uploaded on YouTube, also showed her claiming that DAP figures Anthony Loke, Nga Kor Ming and Ngeh Koo Ham were related to each other. She also said DAP’s Teresa Kok was a cousin of Guan Eng’s wife, Betty Chew.
Last week, Guan Eng initiated legal action against Siti Mastura for making false statements with her claims.
Earlier today, Kok said she would be initiating legal actions against Siti Mastura after the latter failed to respond to a letter of demand.
Similarly, several DAP lawmakers lodged a police report against the PAS MP after she failed to retract her statements against the party’s leaders.
Ngeh and Kok have also debunked Siti Mastura’s claims, adding that she is unfit to be a leader. – November 16, 2023
