Water issues in Gua Musang residential area keep locals awake awaiting supply

Pressure only gets stronger in early hours for the past two years, resident says

GUA MUSANG – For the past two years, residents of Taman Agropolitan Rantau Manis here have been kept awake at night waiting for the water supply to be restored.

An estate cleaner, Wan Azahar Wan Abdullah, 33, said they have been forced to stay awake because the water pressure will only get stronger for supply to be restored in the wee hours.

“This problem has been going on for almost two years, and until now, the problem has not been resolved by the authorities despite our numerous complaints.

“We have been experiencing water supply disruptions from morning until night, and even when there is supply, the pressure is so low that it takes forever to fill a bucket,” he said when met here yesterday.

Housewife Siti Norzalila Shari, 37, said on top of having to pay for the monthly water bills, she also has to bear the cost of installing a special water tank outside her house and have several pails ready to collect and store clean water.

“There is only one water tank here to cater to over 500 houses…that’s why I had to install another tank outside the house near the pipe outlet. Perhaps the water is being rationed, but  why should there be rationing,” she said.

Meanwhile, Nenggiri assemblyman Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, said he has taken note of the residents’ complaints in the housing area and would raise the water supply issue also being faced by residents in Taman Tropika Gua Musang during the state assembly sitting next week.

“I hope that Air Kelantan Sdn Bhd will look into the matter because the water supply issue in Gua Musang should not be equated with downstream areas,” he said. – November 16, 2023
