KUALA LUMPUR – The federal territory here and Selangor can expect thunderstorms every afternoon from today until Sunday, the Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has predicted.
Parts of Selangor will also experience rain in the morning on Saturday and Sunday, it said in a forecast posted on X (formerly Twitter) by the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma).
Elsewhere, afternoon thunderstorms are also expected in Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, and a few places in Perlis, Penang, Pahang, Putrajaya, Melaka, Negri Sembilan, and Johor until Sunday.
At night, thunderstorms are to continue in Terengganu, Kelantan, and Pahang, while rainy weather is predicted for Perlis, Perak, Kedah, and Penang until Sunday.
For tonight, rain is also predicted in parts of Selangor and Johor.
In Sarawak, afternoon thunderstorms are predicted for a few places in Kuching, Serian, Samaritan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Siu, Mukah, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri, and Limbang until Sunday.
In Sabah, afternoon thunderstorms are also expected in parts of the interior, on the West Coast, Tawau, Sandakan, Kudat for today and Saturday, and in Labuan tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Bernama reports that the flood situation in Selangor has improved, with the number of evacuees dropping to 702 from 740 last night.
The evacuees are at 10 relief centres spread across Sepang, Hulu Langat, and Kuala Langat.
However, more people were evacuated in Perak last night, as the number of evacuees rose to 488 from 470, who are currently in five relief centres.
Perak Drainage and Irrigation Department said the water level at Sg Bidor in Changkat Jong was at the danger level last night, with a reading of 4.17m, while the water level at Sg Kinta at Weir Tg Tualang stood at 13.11m. – November 10, 2023
