PAS MP shuns Pakatan’s objections over ‘communist’ slander towards DAP

Despite being assailed by demands for proof behind her allegations, she read out her speech and did not answer questions

KUALA LUMPUR – A PAS lawmaker has refused to entertain questions over her allegations that DAP national chairman Lim Guan Eng (Bagan-PH) has family ties with both former Malayan Communist Party leader Chin Peng and ex-Singapore prime minister Lee Kuan Yew.

Siti Mastura Muhammad (Kepala Batas-PN), who was bombarded by questions from several DAP lawmakers throughout her debate on the Supply Bill 2024 at the committee level in Parliament today, barely acknowledged the attempts calling for her to clarify her statements.

Instead, Mastura continued to read out her speech, merely holding up her hand to indicate that she was not taking questions and answering in the negative when Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul asked if she was going to allow questions from other MPs.

Some of the MPs who were seen demanding Mastura address their queries include Syerleena Abdul Rashid (Bukit Bendera-PH), Wong Shu Qi (Kluang-PH) and Teresa Kok (Seputeh-PH) – all from DAP – the last of whom was among those name-dropped in Mastura’s allegations.

All three DAP lawmakers remained standing until the end of the PAS representative’s speech.

Speaking over Mastura’s speech in the Dewan Rakyat, Wong was heard urging the opposition lawmaker to respond to questions, saying: “You dared to talk outside (the Dewan), you should be brave enough to answer in the Dewan!

“Where is your evidence? What are your sources?” Wong questioned.

After the end of her speech, DAP MP Syahredzan Johan (Bangi-PH) chimed in to slam Mastura for her allegations, saying: “Repeat what you said outside the Dewan, then we can bring a motion against you!

“A youth politician touting old politics, malu (embarrassing)!” he shouted before Johari chastised the lawmakers for the ruckus and called on the next MP to present their debate.

Earlier today, Lim said Mastura has until Thursday to furnish evidence proving her allegations before action will be taken against her “malicious slander,” in which she said his father, DAP stalwart Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang, was a relative of Chin Peng and Lee.

Guan Eng said Mastura had repeated the false claims during a recent PAS programme in Kemaman, Terengganu.

Mastura had also claimed that several members of DAP’s top leadership were related to one another, claiming that Lim’s wife is cousins with Kok, while also name-dropping DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke (Seremban-PH), Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming (Teluk Intan-PH), and Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham (Beruas-PH).

Previously, back in 2017, Kit Siang, had to deny being a cousin of Chin Peng and Lee, a claim that had been spread by Umno members or supporters, in a chart shared via WhatsApp. – November 7, 2023
