KUALA LUMPUR – There has been a concerted effort to link PKR with Liberal International, a so-called federation of liberal political parties, even though the party has never been a member.
PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil said in a statement that the party is not and has never been a member of Liberal International.
“PKR is in full solidarity with the Palestinian people, and strongly condemns the cruelty of the Israeli Zionist regime that continues to oppress and kill Palestinians.”
On October 7, Liberal International declared its support for the people of Israel and recognised Israel’s right to defend itself following the attack by Hamas.
Malaysia has consistently rejected all forms of violence and condemned the act of killing innocent people and taking women and children as hostages in Palestine.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently revealed that following Malaysia’s insistence on the issue, the Foreign Ministry received three démarches from the US government on October 13, 18 and 30 asking the country not to continue its stance, especially Malaysia’s refusal to consider Hamas as a terrorist organisation.
Meanwhile, Malaysia is currently monitoring the decision of the US House of Representatives to pass a bill regarding restrictions on foreign entities that support Hamas and the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine. – November 3, 2023
