In a statement today, Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Suhaily Mohd Zain said that the first individual, who was arrested yesterday in Bangi, Selangor, is believed to be the man behind the “Nekad Hikers Ventures” Facebook account.

The individual in question is 51 years old.

The second suspect arrested yesterday in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, is a 27-year-old man believed to be the account operator of the “Jgad Zruu” Facebook account.

“Investigations are being conducted under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation by anonymous communication and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities.

“The case is still in the investigative stage,” Suhaily said.

He also advised the public not to make speculations that could affect investigations and reminded social media users to be aware of sensitive issues, especially those involving national security and public peace. – October 28, 2023
