KUALA LUMPUR – Toll operator Lingkaran Cekap Sdn Bhd will be imposing a fee on those driving up to Genting Highlands soon.

According to a company spokesperson, those driving down from the highland will not have to pay toll fees, reported Sin Chew.

It is unclear when and how much the toll fee will be, but will take into account the maintenance work and cost required for the roads.

The Batang Kali-Gohtong Jaya road was built in the mid-1960s by Genting Malaysia Bhd, and Lingkaran Cekap has been maintaining slopes, roads, sewage system and streetlights as well as clearing debris.

Genting has a 49.4% interest in Lingkaran Cekap, according to a 2022 annual report.

Earlier, photos of a structure being put up at the road were speculated to be a toll plaza. – October 19, 2023
