KUALA LUMPUR – The official Facebook page of the Perak Public Service Commission appears to have fallen victim to a cyberattack, as a series of explicit video posts have surfaced on the page.
On its official website, the commission issued a statement urging the public to avoid accessing the compromised page.
“We regret to inform you that the Perak Public Service Commission’s official Facebook page has been compromised by an irresponsible party. We kindly request that the public refrain from visiting the page.
“Any further updates will be communicated through our official website,” the statement conveyed.
A total of 10 explicit videos, believed to feature foreign women engaged in provocative activities, have been posted on the page. These videos have been visible since this afternoon, with the first video uploaded at 12.47pm today.
Numerous hashtags are associated with these videos, including #EURO2024, #Threads, #CR7, #AI, #FacebookWatchMeta, #nasa, #ElonMusk and #iloveyou.
Followers of the page expressed their disbelief and posted comments questioning the situation.
One user asked: “Which boomer is manning this page? They must be watching lewd videos and accidentally hitting share”.
“Don’t scold the public, now you have been hacked,” said another.
One more user said: “Someone is going to be disciplined over this”.
As of the time of writing, the explicit videos are still accessible on the Facebook page. — October 16, 2023
