KUALA LUMPUR – A Beechcraft B200T aircraft operated by the Royal Malaysian Air Force landed and skidded off the runway at Subang’s Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport upon touchdown at 12.54pm.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirmed in a statement that a total of four personnel were on board the aircraft with the registration number M41-02, and no injuries were reported.

“The pilot in command had contacted Subang Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower on an issue pertaining to the aircraft’s landing gear and requested assistance to land.

“Subang ATC Tower immediately notified Subang Airport Fire and Rescue Services for Airport Emergency Plan activation to provide emergency assistance to the aircraft upon landing,” said CAAM chief executive Datuk Norazman Mahmud.

He added that the aircraft is being removed and a full runway inspection will be carried out to ensure safe operation of the airport.

The runway is expected to reopen for operations at 5pm.

Earlier, in a post on X, formerly Twitter, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd said the aviation authority had issued a notice calling for a three-hour closure.

According to a post on X by user @abdulazimazhar, an air force plane was forced to make an emergency landing at the airport after its landing gear failed to extend.

At 5pm, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd said on X that the runway closure has been extended to 6pm as per the latest notice issued by CAAM. – October 16, 2023
