USIM Palestinian grad students among Gaza bombing victims

Couple, along with 20 family members, perish in devastating tragedy

NILAI – Two Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) Palestinian graduate students and 20 of their family members were among the victims of the Zionist regime’s bomb attack in Gaza, Palestine, on Sunday morning.

USIM said in a statement yesterday that Mohammed J.H. Alzaanin, a Doctor of Philosophy candidate, and his wife, Kholoud M.H. Elzaneen, a Master of Science student from the USIM Faculty of Science and Technology, were killed in a bomb attack in their village in Bait Hanon at around 8 a.m.

This was confirmed by Ammar H.M. Mahariq, president of the Palestinian Students Association Malaysia. Additionally, their four children perished; one child reportedly managed to survive,” the statement read.

USIM also stated that, according to Malaysia-Palestine Cultural Organisation chairman Badereddin Seyam, 20 of the victims’ family members were also killed in the attack.

“Mohamad had just completed his viva-voce session on July 5, while his wife was scheduled to sit for the session on October 23,” USIM said. – October 10, 2023
