KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reiterated Malaysia’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people.

On social media, the Pakatan Harapan chairman also called on the international community to cease all one-sided actions perpetuating cruelty and oppression against the Palestinians.

“The Zionist-led seizure of Palestinian land and property persists, resulting in the losses of countless innocent lives,” he said.

“Malaysia stands firmly in solidarity with the Palestinian people.”

Malaysia had earlier voiced deep concern regarding the ongoing conflict in and around the Gaza Strip, calling for an immediate halt to the loss of life, suffering, and destruction.

A statement from Wisma Putra earlier today highlighted Malaysia’s call for all parties involved to exercise restraint and to work towards de-escalation of the violence.

Furthermore, Malaysia has also urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to convene an emergency meeting urgently, demanding an end to the violence and the protection of innocent civilian lives.

The surge in violence followed a surprise attack by Hamas on Saturday, involving dozens of fighters infiltrating an Israeli city near the coastal enclave amid intense rocket fire, as reported earlier by Anadolu Agency (AA).

The aim of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood is to put an end to Israeli “violations”.

In turn, the Israeli army initiated Operation Swords of Iron against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said we are “at war.”

Israel’s Ministry of Health reported that the attack resulted in the deaths of at least 300 Israelis and left more than 1,500 injured. – October 8, 2023
