KUALA LUMPUR – A man took to Facebook to ask for help as his children, mother-in-law and younger brother went missing during a holiday in Pulau Perhentian, Kuala Besut last Friday.

The Facebook user, known as Ah Pek, posted that he last contacted them on September 29, and that the car they were in was parked at Kuala Besut jetty before they got on a boat heading to the island.

“It is rare for me to ask for help, but this time I really need help. I cannot get a hold of my mother-in-law, younger brother, and my two children.

“Their vehicle’s plate number is JRW6380. The last update was on Friday (September 29).”

He also said he had lodged a report at the Besut police headquarters last night.

In the same post, he shared a few videos of him saying goodbye to his children who were in a blue Proton Saga before they left for their holiday, and another of his son and daughter in a boat.

Meanwhile, Khursani Ab Manaf, believed to be a tour guide in Pulau Perhentian, said the two adults and two children used his boat to head to the island at 9.45am last Friday.

“They stayed at Senja Bay (Perhentian Kecil) for two nights,” he said in a separate Facebook post last night.

He added that the family took a boat back to the Kuala Besut jetty at 8am last Sunday.

“We pray that Mrs Suraidah and her family are safe,” the tour guide said. – October 3, 2023
