KUCHING – The Communications and Digital Ministry aims to turn the flash mob programme called Keretapi Sarong into a national month activity next year.

Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the programme that took place yesterday received encouraging response with the participation of more than 10,000 people of various ages and races.

“It crossed my mind that we might discuss with organisers about including the programme as part of the activities for national month in the future.

“I hope that next year we can plan more programmes for the national month so it won’t involve just flying the Jalur Gemilang flag,” he told reporters after the national-level Malaysia Day celebrations at Unity Stadium here last night.

The Keretapi Sarong 2023 themed Ethnicity and Unity is designed to instil a love for the country through diversity in conjunction with Malaysia Day celebrations and is organised by Locco, an organisation that promotes cultural activities since 2017.

The programme this year took place simultaneously in five major cities, Johor Bahru (along Sg Segget), Kota Bharu (LaRocka Park), Ipoh (KTMB Ipoh) and Kuala Terengganu (Kampung Budaya Terengganu) as well as London (Battersea Power Station as its final destination). – September 17, 2023
