State DAP leader says this follows Muda’s move to quit federal govt

KUALA LUMPUR – Johor DAP secretary Chen Kah Eng confirmed today that Puteri Wangsa representative Amira Aisya Abd Aziz will no longer be affiliated with the Pakatan Harapan (PH) bloc in the Johor assembly.

According to a Facebook post by the PH leader, the decision follows Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s withdrawal of support from the federal unity government on Sunday due to his dissatisfaction with Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s discharge from his graft charges.

“Now that Muda has chosen to withdraw its support for the unity government and is unfriendly to the Unity Government, the Muda MPs in Johor will automatically not be included in the lineup of the PH bloc,” the post stated.

“Amira is automatically no longer part of the PH bloc because Muda has chosen to leave the Unity Government bloc in the Dewan Rakyat and has adopted an unfriendly stance towards us,” he added.

Amira Aisya won Puteri Wangsa with 22,884 votes in a five-cornered fight in last year’s Johor state election.

Meanwhile, DAP’s Chen also lambasted Syed Saddiq for his decision, calling Muda “ungrateful” towards PH, who had assisted the youth-based party in the Johor polls as well as in last November’s general election.

“Most dishearteningly, the Muda president called DAP a ‘lapdog’ even though PH has helped the party many times in the past. Muda also fielded candidates in the recent state elections as competitors of the PH and Barisan Nasional candidates,” said Chen. – September 12, 2023
