KUANTAN – Initial investigations have indicated that underground water seepage caused a fill slope to fail, resulting in road cracks along KM118.2 and KM 117.8 of the westbound East Coast Expressway Phase 1, or LPT1, in Temerloh near here.
The expressway operator, ANIH Bhd said that the company, along with consultants, were conducting a detailed study to identify the real cause behind the incident at the flood mitigation project being implemented at the location.
“Currently, there is no new movement recorded in the vicinity of the incident but the company with the assistance of the contractor, have placed settlement markers to continue monitoring of the current situation.
“Repair work will be conducted immediately by the contractor as soon as a comprehensive site investigation is completed and a suggested adequate remedial measure is forwarded by the consulting engineer,” the company said in a statement here today.
ANIH also advised motorists to plan their journeys and to obey the instructions of staff at the location of the incident.
The expressway operator had previously confirmed the incident that caused a contra-flow lane to be activated from KM116.5 to KM119.4 from 4.15pm yesterday.
The cracks are believed to have happened on the same day, but there were no untoward incidents resulting from it. – September 11, 2023
