KUALA LUMPUR – The Transport Ministry has established a dedicated task force to probe potential administrative issues related to the registration of classic number plates within the Road Transport Department, or JPJ.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced the formation of the team following revelations found in the “JPJandora Papers” document.

“I raised this matter during today’s post-cabinet meeting and directed the creation of a special task force within the Transport Ministry,” he said in a statement today.

“The task force has been assigned the responsibility of investigating these allegations and proposing enhancements to enhance the transparency of the classic number plate registration process.”

Loke said that the team would operate under the ministry’s Integrity Unit, and that he has also mandated the reinforcement of the JPJeBid system.

“In today’s meeting, I have further instructed JPJ to bolster the JPJeBid system, which has faced capacity limitations during peak hours,” Loke said. – September 8, 2023
