KUALA LUMPUR – PAS has again been accused of changing its “fatwas” to suit its political actions, which include “punishing and labelling whoever as anti-Islam to become the kingmaker”, said Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Mohd Puad Zarkashi.
In a Facebook post, Puad also slams PAS for being an “ugly kingmaker” for leaving behind whoever it wants.
“PAS will punish and label anyone as anti-Islam to become kingmaker. PAS has become arrogant because now he is the kingmaker for Muhyiddin and Bersatu,” he wrote, referring to Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Bersatu chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
While PAS is part of PN, it is speculated that the party could threaten Bersatu’s hold on the coalition.
This is due to PAS’ victories in the 2022 general election and the recent six state elections, where it won substantially more seats than Bersatu.
On Wednesday, PAS election director and Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor reportedly said no political movement involving the Malay community was completed without kingmaker PAS.
He also threw shade at the Umno president, saying Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi could not continue his political career without PAS.
“He (Zahid) is dying, and Umno is in a crisis under Zahid’s leadership,” Sanusi was quoted as saying.
Previously, Zahid said Umno did not intend to revisit cooperation with scheming parties or leaders.
“Any leader and party that is very manipulative, I don’t think we (Umno) should revisit that relationship.”
It was reported that PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said PAS still takes an attitude of reconciliation among the Malays, especially those who still need unification. – September 1, 2023
