KUALA LUMPUR – The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department took more than half a day to put out the massive fire that broke out at an industrial area near Sg Buloh yesterday evening.

In an updated incident report this morning, the department’s operations centre said the fire, which was first reported at 4.48pm yesterday, was completely extinguished at 6.05am today.

It added that about 80% of the six furniture manufacturing factories located along Jalan 71, in Kg Baru Sg Buloh have been destroyed in the blaze.

With overhaul work still being carried out, no casualties have been reported from the incident.

The department had also deployed four Fire Rescue Tenders (FRT), two Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) units, three Water Tankers (W/T), and one Light Fire Rescue Tender (LFRT).

Yesterday, netizens took to social media to share images of the fire, with many expressing concern about the dark plumes of smoke that could be seen from miles away. – August 21, 2023
