PUTRAJAYA — The Energy Commission will re-open its Green Electricity Tariff (GET) programme for a brief period tomorrow.

In a statement, the commission said the programme will be opened for new subscriptions from 11am to 5pm, with an available green energy quota of 1,899 GWh for a five-month contract period from August 1 to December 31 this year.

The commission said renewable energy 100 (RE100)-focused and environment, social, and governance (ESG)-conscious companies or industries can immediately obtain certified Green Energy up to 100% of their monthly electricity consumption.

The statement added, under the GET programme, the companies or industries could also immediately achieve their RE100 goal with the internationally acclaimed and recognised Malaysia Renewable Energy Certificate (mREC).

“The mRECs certify that every kWh of Green Energy purchased by the GET subscriber is uniquely identified to the particular Renewable Energy generation source, which is connected to the National Grid infrastructure and thus dispatchable to the GET subscriber.

“The GET programme also provides the successful GET subscriber with full exemption from the ICPT charges on their green energy utilised, in their electricity bill,” the statement added.

The Energy Commission also said that the allocation of the aforementioned available Green Energy quota under the GET programme is for eligible customers, on a “first-come, first-serve” basis.

They added that applicants may subscribe from 11 am to 5 pm tomorrow by logging in to myTNB Portal at www.myTNB.com.my. — August 10, 2023
