KUALA LUMPUR – Muda’s Batu Tiga candidate Saiyidah Izzati Nur Razak Maideen has revealed her ambitious plans to transform abandoned malls and buildings into a skateboarding hub and a youth entrepreneurial centre.
Speaking to Scoop, Saiyidah who is also known as Cheda Razak, said the abandoned buildings and malls should be remodelled to benefit the youths in Batu Tiga and help elevate their livelihoods.
“There are many small malls and buildings in Batu Tiga that can be transformed into a sports hub. For example, the Giant shopping complex here has been closed for the last 6 years,” she said.
“With this initiative, it can help boost job opportunities and income for the younger generation,” said Saiyidah who is a trained lawyer from Multimedia University Malaysia.”
At the same time, the 35-year-old wants to address the struggles of underprivileged individuals, especially single and abandoned mothers.
“I want to support them beyond the temporary monetary benefits,” said Saiyidah who also runs her own law firm named Saiyidah Izzati Nur & Partners.
“Financial aid is only a short-term solution. Most single mothers have the required skills to help them earn a living but they need to be guided.
“If I’m elected, I aim to provide them with free classes and courses to enhance their skills, so that they can monetise their income.”
Meanwhile, Saiyidah raised the economic and development imbalances between Batu Tiga and Kota Anggerik, where both constituencies fall under the Shah Alam Parliamentary constituency.
“The Batu Tiga constituency is often overlooked by the Pakatan Harapan-led state government. The inequality in the economic and social development between these two areas is obvious.
“Kota Anggerik is seen as a T20 constituency and Batu Tiga is referred to be the B40 constituency
“In order for investors to come to Batu Tiga, we first should create equal opportunities like Kota Anggerik. It’s mind-boggling to see that Batu Tiga and Kota Anggerik are not treated equally despite being ruled by the same state government,” said Saiyidah.
Saiyidah also pointed out that Muda will be the voice of the people if given the mandate.
“The constituents of Batu Tiga view me as their own, especially the older generation as they believe that I’m reliable compared to the other candidates,” she said.
“I don’t come from a political background and that is why they trust me more than the other two candidates from PH and Perikatan (nasional).”
Saiyidah will take on PH’s Danial Al Rashid Haron and PN’s Rina Mohd Harun in a three-corner fight on August 12. – August 8, 2023
