Insolvency Dept allowed me to stay and run my business: Kayveas

KUALA LUMPUR – Former People’s Progressive Party’s (myPPP) president Tan Sri M. Kayveas has admitted to have received the court order to vacate Wisma Tan Sri Kayveas located at Kg Attap, here.

Speaking to Scoop, Kayveas said the Insolvency Department also informed him that he could file an appeal to retain his business operations in the building.

“I did receive a judgment from Justice Ong Chee Kwan after the trial in 2022 and was ordered to surrender the asset to the Department of Insolvency.

“The Insolvency also paid me a visit and told me that I could write them a letter and say that my tenants and I are still occupying the building and running our business operations.

“So I did. I said to let us know when we should vacate the building and the processes, but I have not received any response from them.

“So what should I have done? The Insolvency Department let me stay and let my legal firm function as usual as cases are on appeal. So, there should not be any issues,” he said.

Kayveas also believed that there has been a back door deal between current president Datuk Seri Maglin Dennis D’Cruz and an officer from the Insolvency Department.

“I do not know what but he (D’Cruz) never served a court order against me.

“It’s like this… you can have a court order but you cannot break into the premise. That is a criminal offence unless you get a separate order from the court.

“I do not get why they are doing this. They could have called me and they have my number and my lawyer’s. I still have the tenancy agreement,” he added.

Yesterday, D’Cruz told Scoop that he along with several party members needed to get into the office to obtain the party’s working papers.

He claimed that Kayveas was issued a court order in 2022 to vacate the premises, but chose to ignore it.

However, Kayveas refuted that there were no other party items in the office as they had stolen them in 2018.

“There is an ongoing police case from May 11, 2018, where they have stolen 94 boxes containing items of the party from my office, the computers, including some of my things.

“So they do not need anything from the office. They have taken everything that belonged to myPPP.”

Moving forward with the case, Kayveas added he wished to file a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) regarding the matter.

He has filed a judicial review set on August 29. – August 5, 2023
