KUALA LUMPUR – Air Putih incumbent Lim Guan Eng has claimed that PAS is a party not to be trusted, after Gerakan president Datuk Dominic Lau was shooed from a rally organised by the party.
As such, he said that people are fortunate to be able to see PAS’ “true colours” ahead of the polling day, and urged the people to decide wisely.
“PAS definitely cannot be trusted to care and respect the people,” said Lim in a statement today.
“If PAS can shamelessly chase away its comrade like (Lau), do you think they will treat the people properly?”
Lim, who is DAP national chairman, claimed that PN contesting in Penang is not intended for the state’s benefit, but for the coalition’s self-centred agenda.
He added that Penang PN kept mum when the PAS leadership disputed the state’s sovereignty and accused non-Muslims of being the root of the nation’s corruption.
The Bagan MP also urged the opposition party to emulate the enemies-to-friends alliance upheld by PH-BN.
Highlighting that the coalitions now participate in its talks together, Lim shared that Penang BN secretary Datuk Omar Faudzar was invited to attend and give a speech at the launch of PH’s Seri Delima war room.
A video of Lau being chased away from a PAS rally in Tasek Gelugor went viral. PAS’ Bayan Lepas chief Iszuree Ibrahim was caught on video telling Lau to “go away”.
It was reported that Iszuree was initially supposed to be fielded for the Bayan Lepas state seat.
Subsequently, PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan issued an apology over the matter, while urging supporters to accept the selection.
Lim will be defending the Air Putih seat for the third time, against PN’s Kong Cheng Ann and Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Teh Yee Cheu. – August 4, 2023
