KUALA TERENGGANU – Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) will make some changes to their Terengganu state election campaign programme during the period of mourning following the demise of Tengku Besar of Terengganu Fatimah @ Sharifah Nong Alsagoff Abdillah, early Thursday.
Terengganu Umno chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said said that among the changes in content were any elements of entertainment, but the ceramah would continue as there were no obstacles foreseen in the programme.
“What is not allowed throughout this period of mourning are entertainment-related programmes. Ceramah is not a problem.
“Similarly, the prime minister’s (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) programme this Sunday, there will be certain changes,” he told reporters while informing that the friendly get-together with Transport Minister Anthony Loke here last night has been cancelled.
Earlier, the media reported the passing of the Sultan of Terengganu Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin’s mother, Tengku Besar of Terengganu in Kuala Lumpur at 3.17 am on Thursday and her remains were interred accordingly at the Royal Mausoleum of Masjid Al-Muktafi Billah Shah at Ladang here Thursday afternoon.
The Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Mohd Sophian Abu Bakar said Sultan Mizan has consented to a five-day mourning period starting Thursday with the tahlil ceremony to be held for five consecutive nights at Balai Islam in Istana Syarqiyyah from last night. – August 4, 2023
