KUALA LUMPUR – Perikatan Nasional (PN) deputy president, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, has insisted that he was not at the scene of the sexual harrassment allegations when it purportedly took place, as had been claimed by the accuser.
Speaking with Scoop, Faizal said that he was in a meeting with Negri Sembilan Gerakan chief, Gary Lee, during the exact day and time he was accused of the offence.
Faizal explained that on the day in question, he had back-to-back meetings, starting with a discussion with Lee in Negri Sembilan.
He further clarified that the police report indicated the alleged incident occurred at 11am, which conflicts with his whereabouts at that time.
“I left for Publika at 1pm to attend a meeting with other party leaders. I did not even stop by Plaza Damas,” said Faizal, emphasising that it is not possible for him to be present at the location of the alleged incident.
Faizal also denies knowing the accuser, adding that the allegations were baseless and without any merit.
“I am completely unaware of who this woman is and I deny any allegations of sexual harassment against me.
“I am willing to cooperate fully with any investigation to clear my name,” Faizal said.
He added the sudden withdrawal of the police report raises questions about the credibility and motive behind the accusations.
“Enough is enough. I am not going to keep quiet this time. I have lodged a counter-report and will take legal action against this person.
“Since the police report has gone viral now, I will take legal action because this has tarnished my name and reputation.
“I championed the Safe Sport (Act) to safeguard our athletes from such atrocious acts, so it does not make sense for me to commit such a thing.
“I hope the police will take action towards this person and clear my name.” – August 3, 2023
