Photo of the day: Nothing but gratitude as justice finally served for Zulfarhan, seven years after

10:14 PM MYT

PARENTS of murdered naval cadet Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnain, Zulkarnain Idros and Hawa Osman breathe a sigh of relief and perform the “sujud syukur” or the prostration of gratitude after the Court of Appeal sentenced six former Universiti Pertahanan Nasional students to death.

The convicted killers were found guilty of murder by torturing Zulfarhan in May 2017, which led to his death days later. The court called acts inflicted on Zulfarhan “despicable, inhumane and merciless”, as the victim sustained 90 scald burns covering 80% of his body.

Zulkarnain who is wearing a t-shirt with the hashtags #justice4farhan, #sayNOtobully and #humanity, told reporters that he only knew the full extent and details of what was done to his 21-year-old son when the judgement was read. – July 23, 2024
