Won’t question decision, says PKR’s Fakhrulrazi after being dropped from line-up

Assemblyman says decision made in party's best interests, prioritising the people’s welfare

KUALA LUMPUR – The Meru state constituency belongs to the people, not any particular individual, said PKR assemblyman Mohd Fakhrulrazi Mohd Mokhtar after being dropped from the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate line-up for Selangor.

“I will not question the decision to field someone else for the seat, as I believe it was done in the best interest of the party.

“I have mentioned previously that Meru is not mine to keep because it belongs to the people. But they deserve a representative that can help them resolve issues that arise in the area.”

Meanwhile, he advised candidate Mariam Abdul Rashid of Amanah to set aside any personal interests during the state polls.

“The candidate who has been selected to contest under PH (for Meru seat) must win, no compromise. Above all else, she must win for the sake of the coalition party and not to feed her personal interests,” the PKR member told Scoop.

Fakhrulrazi added that he hopes the next assemblyman will continue the agenda that he put in place in Meru.

He won the seat on the Amanah ticket during the 2018 general election, and he later joined PKR in 2020.

He added that support should be given to any PH candidate to ensure victory in the contested state assembly.

Mariam, who is an Amanah committee member, last contested in the 2018 election for the Sg Panjang seat.

She lost to Umno’s Mohd Imran Tamrin, who won the seat with 10,530 votes. Mariam received 8,446 votes, followed by PAS’ Mohd Razali Saari (6,999). – July 25, 2023
