KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysian Football League (MFL) announced today that the 2024–2025 Malaysia Cup final between Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and Sri Pahang FC will be held on April 12 at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium (SNBJ).
In a statement, the MFL said the date was chosen after considering the Malaysian League (M-League) calendar and JDT’s participation in the AFC Champions League Elite (ACLE). JDT have qualified for the round of 16, with the two-legged ties set to begin on March 4.
“Should JDT progress to the quarter-finals, those matches are expected to take place on April 25 2025. The date for the Malaysia Cup final was set to allow JDT to compete in the ACLE knockout stages.
“As the governing body, the MFL is committed to supporting any club representing the nation on the international stage. The date for the 98th edition of the (Malaysia Cup) has also been approved and supported by Sri Pahang FC,” the statement read.
The MFL added that one of the key factors in selecting April 12 was the availability of SNBJ, which is considered the most suitable venue to accommodate the large number of fans expected from both teams.
It also confirmed that SNBJ will be closed for pitch enhancement works after the final, making April 12 the most practical date to host the match.
“The final’s scheduling will also impact Super League fixtures for weeks 25 and 26. The updated schedule can be downloaded from the MFL website,” the statement added. — February 22, 2025
