KUALA LUMPUR — Bursa Malaysia continued its uptrend mid-morning with buying interest seen in most index-linked counters, led by construction stocks.
At 11 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) advanced 10.12 points to 1,574.68, from Tuesday’s close of 1,564.56. The benchmark index opened 1.07 points higher at 1,565.63.
On the broader market, gainers outnumbered decliners 495 to 246 while 385 counters were unchanged, 1,174 untraded and 10 suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.22 billion units worth RM768.40 million.
Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd equity research vice-president Thong Pak Leng said amid the better performance of the FBM KLCI, he hopes that the daily volume would see improvement.
Among the heavyweights, Gamuda surged 23 sen to RM4.41, YTL Power International jumped 16 sen to RM3.20 and YTL Corporation added 10 sen to RM1.98. Press Metal Aluminium and Tenaga Nasional gained 8.0 sen each to RM5.00 and RM13.62, respectively.
Among the most active stocks, Harvest Miracle Capital was flat at 19.5 sen, Oriental Kopi added 1.5 sen to 91.5 sen, Nationgate rose 12 sen to RM1.97, followed by YTL Corporation and YTL Power International.
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index garnered 89.14 points to 12,023.97, the FBMT 100 Index grew 85.71 points to 11,717.37 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index advanced 106.16 points to 11,860.93.
The FBM ACE Index appreciated 33.68 points to 5,251.77 and the FBM 70 Index surged 171.29 points to 17,839.15.
Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index recovered 39.00 points to 19,066.26, the Industrial Products and Services Index rose 0.96 of-a-point to 165.46, the Plantation Index added 26.72 points to 7,399.80, and the Energy Index improved 8.21 points to 821.60. – February 5, 2025
