Nik Nazmi details RM3.9mil expenditure in 2024 Setiawangsa report card

Focus on welfare, infrastructure, and sustainability in Setiawangsa

KUALA LUMPUR – Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, who also serves as the MP for Setiawangsa, has detailed his constituency’s 2024 accomplishments in a comprehensive report card shared on Instagram.

The report reflects a total expenditure of RM3.9 million, focusing on community welfare, infrastructure improvements, and sustainability efforts.

From the RM3.9 million, RM1.9 million was derived from a special constituency allocation. A significant portion of this fund, totalling RM446,015 or 23.47%, was channelled towards associations, welfare programmes, sports, and clubs. Residents associations also benefitted, receiving RM239,050 or 12.58% of the allocation.

Support for places of worship featured prominently in the PKR vice-president’s budget. Muslim facilities received RM252,500 or 13.29%, while non-Muslim places of worship were allocated RM85,500 or 4.5%.

Welfare initiatives, particularly during festive seasons, accounted for RM199,500 or 10.5%, with an additional RM223,335 or 11.75% directed towards broader welfare programmes.

Educational institutions, including regular schools, Parent-Teacher Associations, and religious schools, received RM207,500 or 10.92%.

Meanwhile, higher learning institutions were allocated RM49,500 or 2.61%. Other allocations included RM79,000 or 4.16% for the armed forces, police, Fire and Rescue Department, and public health clinics, while RM26,700 or 1.41% was spent on medical supplies for constituents.

In addition to these efforts, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions worth RM25,000 were made, alongside the distribution of 100 food baskets to those in need.

Nik Nazmi also allocated RM2 million for people-friendly projects, with RM1,430,000 or 71.5% dedicated to upgrading places of worship for both Muslims and non-Muslims. Education institutions received RM250,000 for the supply and delivery of equipment to schools across Setiawangsa.

Community sports initiatives were also prioritised, with RM160,000 spent on upgrading futsal courts and other facilities at the Wangsa Maju sports centre. Another RM160,000 was allocated to residents associations.

The constituency’s food security and affordability efforts were evident through the distribution of 157,441.3 kilograms of vegetables under The Last Food Project.

Furthermore, 83 Rahmah Sales events for food items were conducted in Setiawangsa, the highest number in Kuala Lumpur.

Nik Nazmi’s report card also highlighted his contributions during festive seasons, including the provision of two hearses for suraus in Keramat Wangsa and Taman Setiawangsa. Other initiatives included distributing free engine oil to e-hailing drivers.

On environmental sustainability, the report revealed that the constituency office has adopted an EV Maxus T90 vehicle for official use and established community gardens.

It also outlined a carbon-neutral 2050 plan for Wangsa Maju, demonstrating a commitment to addressing climate challenges. – December 27, 2024
