KUALA LUMPUR – Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) are investigating a brawl involving two groups of football supporters at the Bandar Tasik Selatan LRT Station late last night.

In a statement today, Prasarana confirmed that a police report had been lodged regarding the incident and called on the authorities to take appropriate action against those involved.

“Prasarana deeply regrets this incident and will not tolerate any form of violence or aggressive behaviour at its stations or on its trains.

“A police report has been filed at the Sungai Besi Police Station, and we are cooperating with PDRM to carry out a thorough investigation to ensure appropriate action is taken against the individuals responsible,” the statement read.

The clash occurred around midnight and involved a group of football supporters at the Bandar Tasik Selatan LRT Station on the Ampang-Sri Petaling line.

“The incident damaged station facilities, including the doors and windows of a train on the platform. However, no injuries were reported during the incident.

“Prasarana’s auxiliary police managed to break up the fight and escorted the groups of supporters out of the Bandar Tasik Selatan station to prevent the situation from escalating further,” the statement added.

Prasarana reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that public transport remains a safe and comfortable space for all passengers.

“We also urge all users to demonstrate more responsible and courteous behaviour when using our services,” the statement concluded.

Meanwhile, Cheras District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Aidil Bolhassan, confirmed in a statement that the altercation took place on the platform of the Bandar Tasik Selatan LRT Station at 12:03am last night.

He stated that a group of football supporters had exited the train and a quarrel broke out between rival groups, involving 20 to 30 individuals who aggressively fought with one another.

“This included throwing a rubbish bin at the train’s lift door barrier and kicking the train doors, causing damage to the train’s glass doors.

“The incident caused the train to stop for about eight minutes. However, no arrests have been made so far,” he said.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 147/427 of the Penal Code for rioting, causing injury, and mischief to property.

“The police are seeking the cooperation of the public or anyone involved to come forward and assist with the investigation,” he said. — December 21, 2024
