KUALA LUMPUR — Another Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) branch is set to close, this time at Citta Mall, as part of the company’s plans to optimise operational efficiency.

GSC Citta Mall will see its final curtains down on Oct 30 as the company consolidates its staff to focus on “more strategic locations with higher footfall and population density”, it said in a statement.

GSC at Paradigm Mall is the nearest to Citta Mall, located less than 5km away, it added.

Since last year and throughout this year, GSC has closed several of its cinemas around the Klang Valley and in Johor in response to “changing consumer preferences” and to adapt to current market conditions.

It is focusing on providing “comprehensive entertainment journeys” that include improving ground operations, digitisation and automation through its mobile app and its Gen 5 ticketing and concession kiosks.

While it has closed certain branches, it has also opened new ones at Aurum Theatre, The Exchange TRX, Velvet Cinemas by GSC, Sunway 163 Mall and GSC KL East Mall, which offer improved experiences for movie-goers. – October 22, 2024
