The time has come: Anwar to unveil highly anticipated budget 2025 today

He previously indicated that this budget will introduce further structural changes to ensure economic growth benefits all Malaysians

KUALA LUMPUR – The time has finally arrived, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim slated to present the highly anticipated Budget 2025 in the Dewan Rakyat this afternoon.

Broadcast live on local television and social media platforms at 4pm today, Budget 2025 is expected to focus on key pillars of the Madani Economic Framework, namely ‘Raising the Ceiling’, ‘Raising the Floor’, and good governance and public sector reform.

This will be the third budget under the Madani government and the last under the 12th Malaysia Plan (2021-2025).

“Raising the Ceiling” is aimed at enhancing Malaysia’s economic competitiveness, while ‘Raising the Floor’ seeks to uplift living standards and ensure equitable social protection. The government is also committed to transparency and accountability through public sector reforms.

Anwar, also the finance minister, previously indicated that this budget will introduce further structural changes to ensure economic growth benefits all Malaysians. The Supply Bill 2025 is set to be debated in Parliament starting next week. – October 18, 2024
