KUALA LUMPUR —  The PKR Central Leadership Council (MPP) has not made any decision regarding postponement of party polls until after the 16th General Election (GE16), said newly appointed PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh.

She said the matter was discussed at the MPP meeting yesterday but no decision was reached.

“The meeting felt that more engagement is needed at all levels of party leadership before any decision is made,” she said in a statement today.

Fuziah, who is also the Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, was responding to a news article published by Malaysiakini titled “PKR postpones party elections after GE16 – Source”.

According to Fuziah, she was contacted by the portal yesterday and denied that such a decision had been made.

Yesterday, PKR vice-president Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad announced that Fuziah was appointed as the new secretary-general effective immediately, replacing Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

Saifuddin Nasution has stepped down from the party post to focus on his roles as Pakatan Harapan secretary-general, PKR Political Bureau member and a member of the Unity Government Leadership Consultative Council. — September 16, 2024
