JDT roar to third straight FA Cup win as Selangor crumble in 6-1 rout

Southern Tigers’ swift counter-attacks leave Red Giants chasing shadows in final

JOHOR Darul Ta’zim FC strengthened their reputation as the dominant force in Malaysian football by clinching their third consecutive FA Cup title last night.

In the final match at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, JDT, the favourites going into the game, delivered a crushing 6-1 defeat to Selangor FC.

The action-packed moments of the match were brilliantly captured by the Scoop Visuals team, highlighting the intensity of the game.

The Southern Tigers, who had already claimed the FA Cup in 2022 and 2023, continued their winning streak with a commanding performance, solidifying their place as one of the most successful clubs in the competition’s history, now tying with Kedah FC and Selangor with five titles each.

JDT’s victory was driven by a tactical masterclass from head coach Hector Bidoglio, who employed a defensive strategy that not only stifled Selangor’s attack but also allowed JDT to launch quick counter-attacks, leading to a flurry of goals.

Despite a spirited effort from Selangor in the early moments of the second half, JDT’s defensive strength and clinical finishing proved too much for the Red Giants, who were left chasing shadows for much of the match. – August 25, 2024
