KUALA LUMPUR – Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (Pernas), in collaboration with Focus Point Vision Care Group Sdn Bhd (Focus Point), today donated glasses to 300 students from three schools in the Sg Buloh area.

Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development, Datuk R Ramanan, who is also the Sg Buloh MP, said that the donation benefited students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Rahman Putra, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (T) Bukit Darah, and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Subang.

The free glasses and eye examinations provided to the students were part of a corporate social responsibility initiative by Pernas, an agency under the Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Ministry, in partnership with Focus Point, he added.

The initiative aims to assist students in need of visual aids, particularly those from the B40 group.

“Today’s program is a testament to the ongoing efforts of Kuskop, its agencies, and Focus Point in assisting those in need.

“It is our hope that this initiative will serve as an example and encouragement for other companies and agencies out there to implement CSR programs to help those who are in need,” he said.

Ramanan said Focus Point has conducted eye examinations for 855 students across the three schools involved.

“I am grateful to Focus Point for their efforts in safeguarding the pupils’ eye health.

“It’s crucial to address eye health from a young age to prevent worsening conditions later,’ he said during the donation handover event in Sg Buloh earlier today.

In addition to the school-based distribution, Focus Point set up eye examination booths for the general public, particularly residents of Kota Damansara and Sg Buloh, offering them a chance to check their eye health.

A student from SMK Bukit Rahman Putra Siti Aisyah, 17 said, “This program is incredibly helpful because spectacles are expensive. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to receive free spectacles through this initiative.”

Another student, Putri Aliah Irdina, 17, shared her gratitude, saying, “I’m thrilled to have received free glasses from Focus Point and Pernas.

“The expense of purchasing or making glasses can be quite high, so receiving them at no cost, along with an eye checkup, makes me feel incredibly fortunate,” she added.

The event, with its focus on community welfare, not only provided much-needed support to the students but also highlighted Pernas and Focus Point’s dedication to improving educational experiences and daily life through better vision. – August 10, 2024
