KUALA LUMPUR – Police have arrested three people, including a local woman, to assist in their investigation into the disappearance of six-year-old Albertine Leo Jia Hui, who has been missing since last Saturday.
Johor police chief M. Kumar said that the three individuals, aged between 28 and 55, were arrested in Iskandar Puteri, Gelang Patah, Johor.
The police have also reclassified the case under Section 365 of the Penal Code for kidnapping or abduction with intent to secretly and wrongfully confine a person, Kumar said.
He said that the child has also not been found so far.
“The public is advised not to speculate in ways that could disrupt the investigation,” he said.
Albertine was noticed missing by her father at around 8.30pm while she was attending a Bon Odori festival event with her family on July 20 at a shopping centre in the Eco Galleria business centre in Iskandar Puteri.
The girl is approximately 120cm tall, with long black hair, fair skin, and a slender build. She was last seen wearing a white shirt featuring a Mickey Mouse character and a pair of shorts.
The police are urging anyone who has seen Albertine or has any information regarding her disappearance to come forward.
They can contact the nearest police station, the Iskandar Puteri police hotline at 019-279-2095, or the police operations room at 07-2212-999. – July 23, 2024
