Budi Madani built cost-free with in-house expertise, says Hui Ying

Subsidy assistance system developed without external consultants, says deputy finance minister

KUALA LUMPUR – The Budi Madani subsidy assistance system was developed at no cost as it was created using the internal expertise of government officials without external consultants, said Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying.

“The development of Budi Madani does not involve any cost. Therefore, the issue of an open tender does not arise, given the use of existing infrastructure,” she said during a question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat today.

She was responding to Datuk Suhaimi Nasir (Libaran-BN), who asked about the cost of developing the Budi Madani system, its procurement methods and whether it was done through an open tender or otherwise.

The Budi Madani programme, Lim said, was aimed at redirecting subsidies to those in need, reducing rising living costs and simplifying the online application process for diesel vehicle owners.

She said that the government continuously gathered updated information to ensure that those affected could easily update their details and receive assistance.

“Diesel subsidy targeting through Budi Madani will also use all existing relevant government databases.

“Any additional information found through Budi Madani will be integrated into Padu (the Central Database Hub),” she added. – July 15, 2024
