Mydin launches first local wholesaler e-wallet app for cashless shopping

Apart from simplifying transactions, it delivers personalised promotions to enhance customer experience, promote digitalisation

SUBANG JAYA – Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd (Mydin) has launched its new e-wallet mobile app, MydinPay, aimed to promote digitalisation and enhance the digital economy. 

With the app, Mydin can boast of its achievement to be the first local wholesaler to develop its own e-wallet app, available on Apple’s App Store and Google Play.

Managing director Datuk Ameer Ali Mydin said that his team is driven to continually enhance the daily experiences of their customers through this initiative.

“This app not only simplifies transactions but also delivers personalised promotions and benefits to enhance customer satisfaction. 

“With over six decades in the market, we (Mydin) continue to strive and adapt to evolving retail trends and customer preferences.  

“This integration of cutting-edge fintech solutions aims to set a new benchmark for retail convenience and digital engagement,” he said. 

The app was officially launched by Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo at the Mydin Subang Jaya Hypermarket today. 

Gobind praised Mydin for its pioneering step in the digital economy, encouraging customers to embrace technology in their shopping habits.

“In the past, we had to visit stores and pay in cash. But now, advanced technology allows us to shop online using smartphones,” the minister said.  

“The digital economy is transformative, and Malaysians must adapt to this new technology. We need to encourage more Malaysians to embrace technology, significantly altering our economy.”  

He also highlighted that the e-wallet app developer, WavPay, is a seasoned financial technology service provider approved by Bank Negara Malaysia.  

In conjunction with the launch, MydinPay is offering RM5 vouchers for its first 1,000 app users, while the first 3,000 customers who spend RM150 and above in any Mydin outlets are entitled to enjoy a 5% cashback rebate. – June 25, 2024
