KUALA LUMPUR – A 25-year-old kindergarten teacher will be charged tomorrow with hurting a 4-year-old child who defecated in his pants during class.

South Klang district police chief Cha Hoong Fong said the teacher at a kindergarten in Pandamaran, Klang, allegedly beat the pupil, injuring his cheek and back.

The child’s 33-year-old father lodged a report against the teacher on May 13 after receiving a photo of his child with the above-mentioned injuries.

The father went to the kindergarten and found out his child had been beaten by a teacher.

Cha said investigations found that the teacher beat the child who soiled his pants. The child also refused to stand up when told to go to the toilet.

“When the child refused to stand up, the kindergarten teacher struck him on the cheek,” Cha said in a statement.

“Following medical treatment at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Klang, it was found that the child suffered soft tissue injury on his cheek.”

Investigation papers were completed and submitted to the deputy public prosecutor on June 6.

“The suspect will be charged tomorrow at the Klang Magistrate’s Court under Section 323 of the Penal Code,” Cha said.

He also responded to accusations on social media that police had been “slow” in investigating the case.

Cha said the probe, which was conducted under Section 31 (1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, took time because the victim’s statement had to be recorded at a child interview centre and subjected to a specific process. – June 13, 2024
