Kluang MP Wong Shu Qi named chair of TalentCorp

DAP lawmaker now heads Human Resources Ministry think thank

KUALA LUMPUR – Kluang MP Wong Shu Qi has been appointed as the new chair of the Human Resources Ministry’s think tank TalentCorp.

Minister Steven Sim welcomed Wong, a fellow DAP party member, to TalentCorp and expressed optimism that the new board members would bring fresh perspectives and innovative strategies to enhance Malaysia’s talent ecosystem through the agency.

“These appointments reflect TalentCorp’s continued significance as the ministry’s strategic think tank, dedicated to attracting, nurturing and retaining the human capital Malaysia needs to thrive in a rapidly evolving landscape shaped by increasing globalisation and the demands of the future of work,” Sim said

Furthermore, Mohd Khuzzan Abu Bakar, a former Johor youth, sports and culture executive councillor, has been chosen as the board’s deputy chairman.

Among the 13 members of the board, the notable faces are the Human Resources Ministry’s secretary-general Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud, the Economy Ministry’s deputy secretary-general for macro Datuk Luqman Ahmad, and the Finance Ministry’s deputy undersecretary for international Emelia Fantoza Saraih.

TalentCorp was established in 2011 to engage and empower the most important resource in the country by collaborating with strategic partners in both the public and commercial sectors.

The corporation organises a number of events and programmes that are geared towards professionals, students, employers and partners in business and academia. 

These programmes include professional comeback assistance, internship programmes and expert repatriation incentives. – June 12, 2024
