BUKIT MERTAJAM – Kelab Bola Sepak DNA Faisal Halim will serve as a model for other local football clubs in Penang in an effort to highlight more young potential football talents, producing more ‘Faisal Halims’.

Penang Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk D. Mohamad Abdul Hamid said that these efforts will begin soon by implementing the club’s modules and programmes across every district in the state.

He said that this is to raise awareness and provide exposure to more young people while also uncovering new talents that will not only shine in state-level football but also nationally and globally.

“I understand that this club was established 10 years ago by former Penanti assemblyman Datuk Dr Norlela Ariffin. Faisal, who is now a national player, also started his training here under Kelab Bola Sepak DNA, now known as Kelab Bola Sepak DNA Faisal Halim.

“Today, the club has almost 200 members, consisting of talented young individuals. The state government, under the sports portfolio, is always focused on the development of football,” he said when met after officiating a football clinic and thanksgiving feast for Faisal in Mengkuang Titi here today, which was also attended by the national player’s father, Abdul Halim Saad.

Mohamad also prayed for Faisal’s recovery, who is currently placed in a secret location for rehabilitation. He urged all parties to stop all forms of violence, including in football.

On May 5, Faisal, who hails from Mengkuang Titi, suffered fourth-degree burns after being splashed with acid by an unknown individual at a shopping mall in Damansara, Petaling Jaya. – June 9, 2024
