Water supply restoration at 12.7% as of 6am today, full recovery expected by noon on Friday

KUALA LUMPUR –  Maintenance works and asset replacement at the Sg Selangor Phase 1 Water Treatment Plant were completed at 7pm yesterday.

In a statement, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said that as of 6am, the water supply recovery in the affected areas had reached 12.7%.

Consumers are expected to receive a phased water supply starting at 3am today following the stabilisation of the main water distribution system, it added.

“The percentage of water supply restoration in affected areas is expected to reach approximately 20% by 3pm on Thursday, followed by 90% by 3am on Friday,“ said the statement.

Air Selangor advises consumers who have or will receive their water supply to let the tap run until the water is clear before using it for daily consumption.

Consumers who have received their water supply should use it prudently to ensure that the recovery process in other affected areas proceeds smoothly as scheduled, it added.

Air Selangor also announced that the full restoration time for the affected areas is estimated at noon on Friday.

Further information on the scheduled water cuts will be updated periodically through Air Selangor’s official communications channel, via the Air Selangor app, Facebook, Instagram, and X accounts, or by contacting Air Selangor at 15300.

Netizens have lauded Air Selangor for their swift maintenance and asset replacement work.

“Rawang has water! There was no water at 6pm the night before, and this morning when I woke up, there was already water. The best! Thank you, Air Selangor,” said Facebook user Raja Azliana Zeiti.

Another user, Azna Halim, said, “Bandar Baru Sg Buloh’s water supply is back! Air Selangor is great!”

“Good job, Air Selangor team. Thank you!” said Sau Kam Chong. – June 6, 2024
