Photo of the day: Doing laundry, the Temuan way

9:18 PM MYT

AN Orang Asli woman from the Temuan tribe is washing her clothes the traditional way – with water from the river and pure grit. Behind her, a child is bathing in the river to cool down.

The residents of the village, located in Sg Pertak, Hulu Selangor, mostly still use traditional and manual methods in their day-to-day tasks despite modernity taking over the world.

Sg Pertak itself is regarded as an important resource in the area, hence the development of the Orang Asli village around it. – May 10, 2024
