KUALA LUMPUR – Australian tennis sensation Nick Kyrgios surprised many with his recent visit to Malaysia, believed to be for Aidilfitri celebrations with his mother’s side.
However, the specifics of his arrival in the country and the duration of his stay remain unclear.
Born Nick Hilmy Kyrgios, he boasts Malaysian heritage through his mother, Norlaila – affectionately known as Nil.
Nil, originally from Pahang’s royal lineage, relinquished her princess title upon moving to Australia in her 20s. She later married self-employed housepainter George Kyrgios, Nick’s father.
Taking to social media, the former world number seven delighted fans by showcasing his tennis skills in Shah Alam alongside his family members, on top of exploring iconic landmarks like Batu Caves in the capital.
Despite grappling with knee and wrist injuries, which have kept him sidelined from competitive play since October 2022, Kyrgios, 28, remains engaged.
He not only dedicates himself to the recovery process but also lends his insights as a commentator, as seen during the Australian Open in January this year. – April 16, 2024.
