KUALA LUMPUR – The Public Service Department (JPA) has clarified that a viral video of a civil servant supposedly being restricted by auxiliary police while posing a question to Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali is merely a simulation.

The department also condemned the spread of the “old” one-minute and 10-second long video, urging the public to avoid falling prey to information spread with the intention of damaging the government and public sector’s image.

In the clip, a man is seen posing a query to Zuki regarding government quarters before the individual is restrained by several auxiliary police personnel who tackle him as he attempts to climb up the stage.

“The old video, which is a simulation on the preparedness of security personnel in the event that they’re faced with a provocative attack situation, was filmed in an auditorium and shared with the intention to play up negative sentiments against the government.

“The department regards any attempt to weaken the civil service institution by providing an image as if the government does not take responsibility for issues (affecting) the welfare of civil servants in the nation,” JPA said in a statement today.

It also warned that the offence of uploading inaccurate content which could incite misunderstandings and confuse the public can be charged under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 on improper use of network facilities. – April 12, 2024
