Arif Junaidi-Roy King cruise into final of Spain Masters

Malaysians down famed French brothers Toma Junior Popov-Christo Popov in straight sets

KUALA LUMPUR – National men’s doubles pair Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King cruised into the final of the Spain Masters at the Gallur Municipal Sports Centre early this morning.

The Malaysian pair defeated the famed French Popov brothers, Toma Junior and Christo, 21-17, 21-17 in 32 minutes.

They will face off against Indonesian pair Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Muhammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani in the final.

The Indonesians will be looking to seal their first title of the season after losing in the final of the Orleans Masters to another Malaysian pair Choong Hon Jian-Muhammad Haikal Nazri.

In the Swiss Open last week, Gutama and Reza finished third after losing to English pair Ben Lane-Sean Vendy. – March 31, 2024
