KUALA LUMPUR – Paper Rex’s (PRX) star duelist Wang “Jinggg” Jing Jie is returning to the starting roster of the Singaporean-based Valorant team.
Jing Jie left the team at the end of Champions tournament last year, where he helped PRX finish second, to complete his mandatory National Service with the island state’s armed forces.
However, the team announced new developments that would allow Jing Jie to continue playing with the main roster this year.
“Upon the conclusion of the 2023 VCT Season, ‘Jinggg’ returned to Singapore to register for National Service.
“He has been following the due process, which included medical examinations.
“It has been assessed that ‘Jinggg’ has a life-long medical condition that is managed with ongoing treatment.
“Upon medical evaluation and review, he is medically unfit for military service,” said the team in a statement released on its X (formerly Twitter) account yesterday.
PRX also added that Jing Jie has signed a contract extension until the end of 2026.
As a player, the Singaporean is an aggressive duelist who is usually first to enter sites to pick up the first duels to open space for the rest of his team.
Known for his excellent mechanical skills and killer aim, he utilises those abilities to win engagements at high rates which often results in round wins for his team.
His absence from PRX’s starting roster has been felt this season with the team finishing second to Gen.G at Kickoff and third at Masters Madrid.
Jing Jie’s supreme ability to win duels is what the “W key” gaming style that PRX is known for is built around.
Without him, Gen.G and Sentinels were able to come out on top of team fights and outplay PRX badly at both Kickoff and Masters Madrid.
Jing Jie is also known for his ability on the character “Raze”, whose blast pack movement suits his aggressive style.
No one utilises Raze’s blast pack ability better than Jing Jie, often catching opponents off guard with quick entry into bomb sites which led the community to crown him the “Raze King”.
Cahya “Monyet” Nugraha, who was signed to replace Jing Jie, has been moved to the substitute bench with the 20-year-old’s return.
PRX’s starting roster for Stage 1 of the Pacific League, which will kick off on April 6, will be Ahmad Khalish “d4v41” Rusyaidee, Jason “f0rsakeN” Susanto, Aaron “mindfreak” Leonhart Ilya “something” Petrov and Jing Jie. – March 30, 2024
