KUALA LUMPUR – The female teacher accused of molesting her male student has been put on leave until the investigation is completed.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the teacher had to cooperate with the investigation conducted by police and her ministry.

“Currently, we (the MoE) are taking the appropriate action to protect our children. The teacher will no longer have any contact with or access to the students, she has been put on leave until the investigation is completed.

“The teacher must fully comply with the investigation process first, for now, it is the police investigation and allegations, only then can we take action at our level,” she told reporters at an event at Seberang Prai today.

Earlier, Fadhlina said the ministry would take action against the teacher if the accusations were proven to be true.

“As for the student, we will provide full psychosocial support and protection as stipulated in the Education Ministry’s guidelines.”

Last Sunday, Sepang police chief Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof confirmed receiving a report about a teacher allegedly grooming her Form 5 student.

He noted that the report was lodged by the boy’s mother on December 12 last year.

In a statement, Wan Kamarul said the 46-year-old mother had filed the report after she noticed red marks on her son’s neck.

The boy claimed they were due to kisses from his teacher.

The victim has since been referred to a hospital for a medical evaluation while police carry out investigations under Section 14 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for physical assault on a child. – March 29, 2024
